David A. Hyland has been acting for quite some time and is an Equity
Membership Candidate. He began his formal training at North Plainfield
High School, which won the New Jersey State Championship at the S.T.A.N.J.
Drama Competition his final three years in the program. Dave contributed
by winning the Governors Medal for the best Improvisational Acting pair in
the state of New Jersey. He received a BA in Theatre from Salisbury
University and also a Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from The Ohio State
University. Dave learned even more about Improvisation while completing
his studies and also used it as an approach to studying Acting for his
students at OSU. He now teaches Acting at Palm Beach Community College,
where he is the Faculty Advisor for Cheese and Crackers, the student
improv troupe. However, he realized that it was not enough to just sit
there and watch improv, so he, along with a few others, decided to form a
Troupe that was not affiliated with the school. Thus Mod 27 was born.
Dave is looking forward to the future of the troupe, which includes the
offering of workshops and classes for Improv so that he can further utilize
his education and teaching skills.

The first time that Dustin saw improv, he was fourteen years old. He gave the suggestion “Hershey Squirts”. From that day on he grew to love the art form.
Every Sunday evening during his sophomore and junior year of high school, Dustin would watch a local improv troupe called “The Comedy Squad”. At the end of each
show, the troupe would invite audience members to participate in some games. Dustin frequently signed up and played.
One night “The Comedy Squad” was short one performer so they invited Dustin to perform with them. Sadly before he could
become a regular performer the troupe split up. Dustin began doing improvisation regularly during his junior year of high school, he was the director of
John I. Leonard High School's improv troupe “The Players”. Upon graduation Dustin began attending Palm Beach Community College and was asked to direct their improv
troupe "Cheese and Crackers". Dustin went on to perform with and direct the troupe for the next five years (Coincidently that is where the founding members of “Mod 27”
met). Currently Dustin is an instructor at “The Acting School of South Florida” in Hollywood Florida. Dustin’s acting credits include the children’s show in which he
played numerous characters “Once Upon a Time in Florida” with Take Heed Theatre Company, Marcus Lycus in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” as well as
many other Palm Beach Community College productions. Dustin was a three time Frank Lehey Scholarship recipient and a three time KCATCF Irene Ryan Scholarship nominee.
He has directed a few one act plays and even once or twice done some technical work. Dustin has also done a few commercials, full length movies, stand up, and sketch
comedy writing.

Florida’s improv troupe Theatre Strike Force. Under the direction of
Heather Roberts Parady and Kerensa Peterson he honed his skills and fell

he achieved before the age of 23. In fall of 2000 Tom moved back to South

"Provident Improv"
“It takes a lot of practice to be spontaneous. That's
the first thing you learn when you're in a good improvisational comedy
show. Improv isn't just acting. It's a sport, with its own skill sets and
formal vocabularies. It takes a lot of training to make improv look so
sweetly natural. The improv troupe Mod 27 makes it look easy.”
